The transfer window may have only opened 10 days ago but with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur already splashing the cash on their top targets this summer, the pressure is already beginning to mount on Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

It is no secret that the Red Devils are after Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen, and ten Hag has now listed them as ‘crucial’ signings for his style of play. Elsewhere, fellow target David Raum has dropped his transfer preference, while United are said to be ‘leading the race’ for Tammy Abraham.

De Jong and Eriksen ‘crucial’ for ten Hag

It has been well publicized that Manchester United are desperate to secure the signature of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer, as new manager Erik ten Hag looks to reunite with his former Ajax player and begin his rebuild of the Red Devils squad.

Christian Eriksen has also been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, and although the club’s hierarchy continues their negotiations with both players, the latest reports have revealed that the two players in question are at the top of ten Hag’s priority list.

According to a report by Marcel van der Kraan for De Telegraaf in the Netherlands, ten Hag has told the United board that these two players are crucial for him to be able to implement his style of play, with both players being highly creative midfielders.

Raum’s transfer preference revealed

Man Utd’s transfer shortlist continues to grow and the latest player to be linked with a move to the Red Devils is Hoffenheim’s David Raum, who can operate as both a left back and a left midfielder, as ten Hag eyes up reinforcements on that side of the field.

According to German publication Bild, United have entered the race to sign the attack-minded full back, and following reports linking him with a move away from the Bundesliga club last month, he refused to rule anything out and dropped a subtle hint over his European dreams.

“Of course you think about it,” Raum told Sport1 last month, via the Manchester Evening News, addressing reports linking him with a move to Dortmund. “Naturally, I would have liked to have played on the international stage with Hoffenheim. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out. That continues to be a dream for me.”

Utd ‘leading’ Abraham race

A new striker is an absolute must for United this summer if they are to succeed under Erik ten Hag next season, with 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo needing the perfect partner to take the weight off his shoulders ahead of the upcoming campaign, while fellow veteran Edinson Cavani has now departed the club.

And the latest reports in Italy have reported that the Red Devils are ‘leading the race’ to sign England international Tammy Abraham from Rome, despite the former Chelsea forward insisting that they are happy at the Stadio Olimpico and the Serie A club having no intention of selling him.

But according to Corriere Dello Sport, via Team Talk, United are one of two clubs who are leading the race for Abraham’s signature, with Arsenal also interested, and that Roma are under ‘siege’ when it comes to protecting the player, following his impressive debut campaign under Jose Mourinho.
