Purdue QB Aidan O’Connell made the game-time decision for Saturday’s game against Florida Atlantic

Purdue quarterback Aidan O’Connell is expected to make a playing-time decision Saturday against FAU because his injury is unspecified, sources told ESPN.

O’Connell is fifth nationally in 2022 with 1,000 passing yards. He has thrown for eight touchdowns and one interception while being one of the best quarterbacks in the sport.

The next player on Purdue’s depth chart is sixth-year graduate Austin Burton, who transferred from UCLA after the 2019 season. Burton played in seven games for the Boilermakers last year, appearing in both relief and selects.

Burton has started one game in his career. In 2019 at UCLA, he suffered a 48-31 loss at home to Oregon State.

FAU is coming into the game coming off a 40-14 home loss to USCF last week. After an impressive win against Charlotte in Week 0, FAU lost to Ohio and defeated Southeastern Louisiana.

O’Connell won Purdue’s starting spot last season with a breakout year in which he threw for 28 touchdowns, completed 71.6% of his passes and had a five-touchdown win over Tennessee in the Music City Bowl.
