Red Hot Chili Peppers Share New Track ‘Eddie’

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have shared new single “Eddie,” a tribute to the late Eddie Van Halen. It is the second single from the band’s upcoming album The return of the canteen of dreams, following the previous cut ‘Tippa My Tongue’. Check it out below.

“Sometimes we don’t realize how deeply affected and connected we are to artists until the day they die,” Anthony Kiedis said in a statement about the song. “Eddie Van Halen was one of a kind. The day after he died, Flea walked into a rehearsal with an emotional bassline. John, Chad and I started playing along and pretty soon a wholehearted song was playing in his honor without effort. It felt good to be sad and care so much about someone who was our gave so much to life. Although the song doesn’t mention Eddie by name, it talks about his early days on the Sunset Strip and the rock n roll tapestry that Van Halen painted in our heads. Finally, our song asks that you remember Eddie not because he died, but because , that he was living his wildest dream.

The return of the canteen of dreams is the Chili Peppers’ second LP of 2022, following April’s Unlimited love. It will be released on October 14th.
