Since Museum workLaunched last year, they have discussed important workforce issues in the sector with colleagues from museums across the country. One thread of these conversations was museum staff’s experiences with the Young Canada Works (YCW) program. Museum Labor has begun research into YCW and has consulted with other emerging museum specialist groups on the topic.
To gain a deeper understanding of perspectives, barriers and participation in YCW, they launch a study in the program. They would appreciate anyone who has been on the program taking the time to share their thoughts and experiences, regardless of whether you have held a YCW position.
Research progress will be presented at the National Trust Conference in October 2022 and a full report will be shared with the wider museum community later this year.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact them at email.

The museum staff would like to thank the Ontario Group of Emerging Museum Professionals (GOEMP), EMP/PEM Canada, the Canadian Association for the Preservation of Cultural Property, and the Canadian Association of Museums for feedback and advice on the study.
